Appointment of Nancy Déziel on the BOD of the NSERC
Shawinigan, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 – Shawinigan College and its Centre for the Transfer of Technology, the National Centre in Electrochemistry and Environmental Technologies (CNETE), congratulate Mrs. Nancy Déziel, Executive Director of the CNETE, for her appointment to the Board of Directors of the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).
The NSERC is a federal granting agency that plays a major role in the research and science field, investing more than 1.2 billion dollars a year in natural sciences and engineering research in Canada.
For Mr. Guy Dumais, President of the BOD of the CNETE and Executive Director of Shawinigan College: “This recognition speaks to the importance of the research conducted at the CNETE. The latter is actually considered to be one of the best research centres in Canada affiliated with a college. The entire college community and local population are all thrilled about this appointment.”
Mrs. Déziel is the only person stemming from the Quebec collegiate environment to seat on the BOD of the NSERC. According to Mr. Éric Milette, Studies Director and President of the Research Committee at Shawinigan College, this is excellent news: “Mrs. Déziel will inevitably provide the NSERC with expertise and know-how, but she will also have the chance to share the perspective of applied research in the colleges. This is a clear advantage for the advancement of research at the college level, and eventually, this will also profit businesses and the entire Canadian economy.”
As for Nancy Déziel, she is excited about her new role: “It is with a lot of humility and yet a lot of pride that I welcome this appointment. This is a great opportunity to bring the college reality to the table. I look forward to collaborating with the NSERC, universities and various research sectors that it represents!”
Shawinigan College and the CNETE would like to congratulate Mrs. Déziel for this appointment!
